Minor Membership Policy

Policy

CoNZealand recognises that Minors are entitled to additional supervision to keep them safe both online and in person.

Relevant New Zealand Law

New Zealand law requires that no minor under the age of 14 be left unattended. New Zealand law protects all persons 16 or over from discrimination based on age, unless age is a genuine occupational qualification.

Definitions

Minor

A minor is anyone under the age of 18 as of 29 July 2020.

Volunteer

Someone who has volunteered to help at CoNZealand and has signed the Volunteer form.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure clear communication of rules and expectations affecting parents and guardians attending CoNZealand with a minor.

Scope

This policy applies to all child members and the adult members they are attached to.

Procedures

Volunteers who are under 18 must have the written consent of a parent or guardian. The volunteer services assigned to a minor should comply with all appropriate requirements of child labour laws.

All Child memberships must be tied to an adult membership. All Child memberships must file the contact information of up to two adults (over 18; with memberships) who are responsible for them.

Due to international laws regarding child access to various platforms and contents, we will not be able to provide a separate sign-on for children under the age of 13.

Memberships

There are two types of memberships for minors at CoNZealand:

  1. Kid-in-tow (not available)—under 13 years old. May not have a separate sign-on. May attend appropriate items with a responsible adult.
  2. Child ($75)—13 to 18 years old. Must be purchased in concert with an adult attending membership. Must have their own, separate email address. May not attend over 18 programming.
  3. Young Adult ($150)— 16 to 20 years old. May be purchased independently.
